Hidden Heart Chocolate Loaf Cake with Buttercream Frosting

  • 200 g icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 50 g melted dark chocolate
  • For Decoration

    • Heart sprinkles (optional)

    👩‍🍳 Instructions

    1️⃣ Make the Pink Sponge

    1. Preheat oven to 160°C Fan / 180°C / 350°F / Gas 4. Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin.
    2. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, then whisk until fully incorporated.
    4. Fold in the flour, then add pink food coloring until you achieve a strong pink hue.
    5. Pour into the prepared tin and bake for ~50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    6. Cool completely. Trim the ends and cut the loaf into even slices, about the thickness of your heart-shaped cookie cutter.
    7. Use the cookie cutter to stamp a heart shape from each slice. Set hearts aside.
