My wedding day

The shocking revelation: the recordings showed that the « young » bride was having an affair with another man. In recorded phone calls, she and Khaled agreed that she would only marry Khaled to receive the large dowry and the apartment he had registered in her name. She planned to divorce him after a month and return to her lover. The biggest shock, however, came from documents that proved the bride had actually transferred some of Khaled’s money to this other man’s account just two days before the wedding!

A deathly silence fell over the hall, then chaos erupted. Khaled lost his temper and yelled at the bride, who burst into hysterical tears. My mother-in-law, meanwhile, was trying to hide her face in shame after her « choice » had been exposed in front of the prominent families. Amidst this commotion, I approached Khaled and whispered in his ear, « Beauty fades, Khaled, but character can’t be bought with money… Congratulations on your bride. »

Khaled left the hall and fled the scandal, and the bride was divorced on her wedding night. As for me, I left with my head held high, realizing that day that God does not let the rights of the oppressed go unpunished, and that the « cunning of women, » when used for justice, is sharper than the sword. From that day forward, I began my life anew, managing my own affairs, while Khaled continued searching for the « origin » he had lost with his own hands.
