Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk (or milk of choice: almond, oat, soy, etc.)
  • 2 black tea bags (English Breakfast or Earl Grey work best)
  • Sweetener of choice (optional: sugar, honey, or syrup)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Equipment

  • 2-cup measuring cup
  • Small saucepan
  • Stirring spoon
  • 1-quart glass bottle (optional, for storing)
  • Stainless steel straw (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Step 1: Steep the Tea

  1. Place the 2 tea bags in a 2-cup measuring cup.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over low heat. Stir frequently to prevent scorching.
  3. Once the milk is steaming (do not boil), remove it from the heat.

Step 2: Combine Milk and Tea

  1. Pour the hot milk over the tea bags in the measuring cup.
  2. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Step 3: Add Sweetener (Optional)

  1. If using sweetener, add it while the milk is still hot. Stir well to dissolve.

Step 4: Cool the Mixture

  1. Loosely cover the measuring cup with a towel and let it cool for 30 minutes. This prevents a skin from forming on the surface.
  2. Once cooled, cover the cup with plastic wrap and refrigerate until completely cold.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Fill a glass with ice and pour the chilled tea latte over it.
  2. Stir gently and enjoy your homemade Iced English Tea Latte!

Notes

  • Use Quality Tea: High-quality black tea bags like English Breakfast or Earl Grey make a big difference.
  • Don’t Boil the Milk: Overheating can change the milk’s texture and taste.
  • Experiment with Milk: Try almond, oat, or coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Sweeten to Taste: Adjust the sweetness or try flavored syrups like vanilla or caramel.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare a larger batch and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days.
