French Onion Meatloaf

Growing up, Sundays were all about the scent of something warm baking in the oven. This French Onion Meatloaf takes me right back to those family dinners. It’s packed with the cozy flavors of caramelized onions and gooey cheese—like a warm hug on a plate. It’s easy to make and even easier to love. Try this today and bring a little French flair to your family table!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 cup French fried onions, crushed

  • 1 packet onion soup mix

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, crushed fried onions, soup mix, eggs, milk, cheese, ketchup, and pepper until just combined—don’t overmix.

  • Shape into a loaf and place in a baking dish or loaf pan.

  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for a beautiful glaze.

  • Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes or until the meat reaches 160°F (71°C) inside.

  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  • Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use ground turkey for a lighter option.

  • Leftovers make amazing sandwiches the next day!

  • Add sautéed onions for extra flavor if you love that deep onion taste.
