Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3.9 oz.) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz.) Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 package Oreo cookies (finely crushed, with filling removed)
  • Green food coloring (or other pastel colors)
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • Easter Peeps (for topping)
  • Candy eggs (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes.
    • Let the pudding set for 5 minutes.
  2. Color the Pudding:
    • Divide the pudding mixture into two separate bowls.
    • Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl (e.g., purple and light pink) and stir until evenly colored.
  3. Fold in Cool Whip:
    • Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into each bowl of colored pudding until well combined.
  4. Layer the Dirt Cups:
    • Add 1 tablespoon of crushed Oreo cookies to the bottom of each mason jar or clear cup.
    • Top with a layer of colored pudding mixture.
    • Repeat the layers, alternating between crushed cookies and pudding, until the cups are nearly full. End with a layer of crushed cookies on top.
  5. Refrigerate:
    • Place the cups in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.
  6. Color the Coconut:
    • Add shredded coconut to a container with a lid.
    • Add a few drops of green food coloring and a touch of water.
    • Shake the container until the coconut is evenly colored.
  7. Add Toppings:
    • Right before serving, sprinkle the colored coconut on top of each dirt cup to resemble “grass.”
    • Decorate with Easter Peeps and candy eggs.

Notes

  • Use a food processor to quickly crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
  • For a lighter version, substitute sugar-free pudding mix and light Cool Whip.
  • Get creative with food coloring to match pastel Easter themes.
  • Serve in clear cups or mason jars for a cute presentation.
