Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos: A Crispy, Spicy, Irresistible Recipe

Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

The first time I made these tacos, my family thought I ordered takeout. That’s how good they are—crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce and tucked into warm tortillas. Inspired by our favorite food truck treat, this air fryer version keeps it light but packed with crunch and flavor. Make taco night the highlight of your week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 6 small tortillas

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix

  • Chopped cilantro and lime wedges, for garnish

Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1 tsp sriracha (or to taste)

  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

  • Soak shrimp in buttermilk for 10 minutes.

  • Mix cornstarch, panko, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Coat shrimp in dry mix. Place in air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway.

  • Whisk together bang bang sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

  • Toss cooked shrimp in the sauce.

  • Fill tortillas with slaw and shrimp. Top with cilantro and a squeeze of lime.

Notes

  • Warm tortillas for better flavor and flexibility.

  • Add sliced avocado for creaminess.
