Fill a pot with water and place over high heat.
Add two dishwasher tablets to the water and bring to a boil.
Place a rack on the stovetop in the boiling water and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Pro tip: Warm water and detergent work together to soften stubborn dirt and carbon deposits.
After soaking, remove the grate and scrub with a sponge or brush. Stubborn deposits? A dull knife can gently scrape them off. Repeat this process for the other half of the grate, flipping it over if necessary.
